Welsh Poppy – Meconopsis cambrica

Wild populations of the Welsh Poppy are to be found in rocky highland areas and woods of SW Britain, as well as other fringes of western Europe, but notably here in Wales of course, where it is the emblem of Plaid Cymru. Now it is naturalised and flourishes in many of our gardens, in all sorts of unexpected places, creating wonderful splashes of colour, chiefly golden yellow, through the summer.
